The One and Only Community boasts a thriving community of over 400,000 engaged members. This non-profit operates on a membership model, positioning itself as a unique 'storytelling layer' that envelops various charities, events, and initiatives dedicated to ocean health.
Helmed by Instagram's renowned wildlife photographer, Paul Nicklen, the platform endeavors to spotlight key issues, inviting users to embark on real-time journeys with the team, all in a collective pursuit to 'revitalize the oceans.'
Gathered in my Lisbon workspace, team leaders from different locations, including New York, Miami, and Scotland, came together. I led a series of workshops over three days, covering brainstorming, identifying issues, using Crazy 8's for creativity, and mapping user journeys. We dove deep into understanding the community, business goals, and the problem at hand. Our collective efforts led to insightful 'How might We's, setting the stage for the next steps in the design process.
To improve the platform's user experience, we discussed semantics and differentiating between journeys, series, and stories. To clarify these discussions, I created a visual representation with a user flow showing the ideal path. This visualization aimed to identify the best content structure to engage users, guiding them through compelling stories and building a stronger connection with the platform.
I worked closely with the team based in New York and Scotland to define the branding, create user flows, prototypes, and designs for the web app.
